• Define the following words:

Push factor - A reason why you want to leave the country.

Pull factor - A reason why you want to move into a specific country

Emigrate - Someone who exits a country

Immigrate - Someone who moved into a country

Migrant - Someone who moved for work

Obstacle - Something that's stopping them from migrating

• List push factors, pull factors and obstacles that the British faced when they immigrated to NZ.

Push Factors - Terrible living conditions, Long work hours.

Pull Factors - Free lands, Freedom, Good living conditions.

Obstacle - Long ride, Sea Sickness, Motion Sickness

• List the consequences of the British immigrating to NZ. Think about the effects on Britain and NZ as countries as well as the people in both countries

Push Factor - They wanted to escape religious and political beliefs, People were dying.
Pull Factor - They believed that America is a safer place, They could have freedom from religion.
Obstacles - The Irish slave trade.

• List the consequences of the Irish emigrating to America.Think about the effects on America and Ireland as countries as well as the people and how they were affected in both countries.
